Lacking documentation - I still don't know how to create a Ranger, just that I've never had that option (even on characters with across-the-board awesome stats). Too many things seem to be fixed-chance-of-success - especially gaining experience (you level up some % of the time when you land a killing blow, instead of gaining XP on each kill and leveling when you pass a threshold) and resting at an inn (seems to be a fixed chance per rest of regaining some % of your max HP/spell slots - but it's frustrating to burn gold and not see any benefit.)

Performance is great, launches quickly, exits quickly, everything in the UI is responsive, state is constantly saved so you can leave the game at a moment's notice.this puts it head and shoulders above most other Android dungeon crawls I've tried. It's actually a really well-behaved Android app. It's a little too easy to forget where you are on the level, but there's spells and items that will show your location. Good pace for a mobile game - fights are quick enough to crank out a couple during short breaks. Races, classes, gear, spells, and monsters with varied abilities - there are very few Android games that manage to check all of those. Fun enough, especially given the thin pool of party-based dungeon crawlers on Android. I don't think it's going to reach "timeless classic" status any time soon, but

Officially liked the demo of Oubliette enough to pony up for the full version. Only buy one of the character types would be my recommendation - it's long enough that you'll be unlikely to want to play it twice. Still, for bejeweled with a metagame, it's passable. Plus performance is pretty bad on my Droid Charge - loooots of loading screens. It's too easy the storyline is even less interesting than the original and it drags a lot.

not really an upgrade over the original, in a lot of ways. Game Dev Story wasn't bad for a playthrough, but got old quickly. Oubliette looks like it might be a good Eye-of-the-Beholder/early-Wizardry type game I've just pulled down the demo, will report back if it's non-terrible.Įlder Signs: Omens is an interesting game - I think based on a board game of the same name? Gets old after a bit, but good fun. It's free, but you'll need to shell out a couple of bucks or grind a _lot_ to open up all the levels.īattle for Wesnoth would be pretty good if it ran better - really like the game, but it crashes a _lot_ on my Droid Charge in big battles. I'm liking Towers and Trolls - a very traditional path-based tower defense, but it looks good and performance does not suck. It's a reflex game, and if you like that sort of gameplay, you'll probably enjoy it. Temple Run is another freemium game, but it's fairly shallow. They take a lot of firepower to take down, which means that if you focus on taking them out (for the freemium currency reward), you're forced to split your offense that you normally would want to focus against actual threats. The saucers are non-aggressive, wander a somewhat random path through the scene, and leave. Sometimes, there are also saucers that fly by. Normally, you have to deal with waves of enemy ships attacking your fleet. Although the game is "freemium," I very much like the fact that you can voluntarily make the game harder in order to earn the "freemium" currency. With regard to other games, I quite like Strikefleet Omega. Mega Mall Story didn't really have any replay value, while Hot Spring Story, Cafe Nipponica, and Epic Astro Story were a bit lackluster, to me. On the Kairosoft front, I was pleased with Dungeon Village, Grand Prix Story, and (of course) Game Dev Story, and Pocket Academy is pretty entertaining as well. Anyone have any recommendations for games (other than what is in the thread )? It's my first smartphone, so any other tidbits of wisdom would be appreciated also.
